How to Clean and Store Your Toys

A clean toy is a safe toy, and a well-stored toy lasts for years. The routine takes about two minutes.

Every time: before and after

1. Wash with warm water and a mild, unscented soap or a dedicated toy cleaner like Rinse.
2. Pay attention to seams, buttons and textured areas.
3. Rinse well and let it air dry completely, or pat it dry with a clean, lint-free towel.

Know your water rating

Fully waterproof toys can go under running water or in the bath. Splash-proof toys can’t be submerged. Wipe them with a damp, soapy cloth instead, and keep water away from the charging port.

Deep cleaning by material

• Motor-free silicone, glass and stainless steel can be boiled for three to five minutes, or run through the top rack of a dishwasher with no detergent. Always check the product instructions first.
• Anything with a motor should never be boiled or put in a dishwasher.
• Porous materials like TPE can’t be fully sanitized. Wash with soap and water, dry thoroughly, and use a condom over them if they are shared.

Moving between types of play

Never move a toy from anal to vaginal use without washing it first, or switching to a fresh condom over it. Bacteria from the rectum can cause infections elsewhere.

Storage

• Give each toy its own pouch. Some softer materials can react when they sit against each other.
• Keep toys somewhere cool and dry, away from direct heat and sunlight.
• Top up rechargeable toys every few months, even if you haven’t used them. Batteries last longer that way.
